  10.        people dying from AIDS is described and explained in the context of its
  11.        irony and detriment to the patients' well being, minimizing access to
  12.        social support resources. The psychological and the therapeutic
  13.        relevance of social support during the critical transition phase is
  14.        explored. Recommendations for curbing the phenomena of self-imposed
  15.        social death in PWAs, as well as suggestions for future research on the
  16.        value of psychosocial support to the PWA's well being during the
  17.        transition phase, are also discussed.
